There’s something quietly magical about a stylish summer wedding at the Cliff at Lyons. The soft light filtering through ivy-covered stone walls, the calm elegance of the courtyards, the way the countryside wraps around the venue and makes everything feel just a little more intentional. Sara & Davitt chose this beautiful Kildare wedding venue for their intimate celebration, and it couldn’t have been more perfectly suited to their energy – chic, creative, deeply personal, and effortlessly cool.

As a wedding Photographer, Cliff at Lyons is one of those venues I’ll never get tired of returning to. It offers that rare balance of refined luxury and relaxed warmth – ideal for couples who want their wedding to feel elevated but still completely like themselves. From slow, emotional moments in the gardens to candlelit dinner conversations and a packed dancefloor later in the evening, every part of this day flowed beautifully within the same space.

Sara & Davitt kept their guest list small and meaningful, inviting only their closest family and friends. With half of the guests travelling from France from Sara’s side, the day had such a lovely international feel – laughter drifting between languages, long embraces, and the sense that everyone present had made a real effort to be there. It created an atmosphere that felt intimate, warm, and deeply connected.

Getting Ready Together

One of my favourite parts of this wedding was how intentional the morning felt. Instead of getting ready separately, Sara & Davitt chose to get ready together – calm, unhurried, and grounded in each other’s presence. Both wore matching white tuxedos, a bold and timeless choice that reflected their shared style perfectly. Their look was confident, modern, and completely their own – proof that the most stylish weddings are the ones that feel honest.

Film Photography

The couple’s love of photography extended to film, so I shot parts of the day on both 35mm and 120mm film alongside digital. There’s something beautifully nostalgic about film – the softness, the texture, the slight unpredictability – and Cliff at Lyons lends itself so well to that aesthetic. The stone textures, greenery, summer light and quiet corners translated into images that feel romantic and timeless.

And then, in true Sara & Davitt fashion, the evening took a turn toward the unexpected – with their wedding band playing metal classics from System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine. Watching guests dance under the warm glow of candlelight to heavy riffs in such an elegant setting was unforgettable. It was joyful, chaotic in the best way, and a perfect reflection of who they are together.
